>GMI summer school in 2014

In summer 2014 Gregg Goldston, Haruka Morijama and Eric Wilcox have been teaching a two weeks intensive in Berlin. It was well recieved and a big jump for all students. The students have been coming from Italy, USA, China and Russia and of course from Germany. The final performance was open air and have been in Mellow park and many guests enjoyed the teachers and students showing their scenes. Most of the participants have been already experienced mimes – some even with performing experience. Going though the curriculum they created group and solo plays and got the opportinity to receive feedback. The students enjoyed the  hard work in a pleasent environ- ment and good social life.

>Imagine now

"Imagine! Now!" is wordless theater that let you forget time and space and widens your imagination. The performance starts with slapstick to break the ice. The actors introduce facets of relationships in short vignettes – the first are comic but they move to poetic. Also the style of mime acting changes frequently. From the modern style it switches to the 1900 style of literary pantomime and moves forward to satirical and even grotesque. The dramatic climax is reached by showing conceptually the cruelty of war just by light projection on one actor while he projects his thoughts to the audience. “MMR“ present situations and gestures that are never purely aesthetic but are movement phrases that pull to an inner authenticity.

>Dresden mime festival

The International Mime Festival Dresden takes place in November every year. It presents a mix of young mime groups and established mime performers. The festival is co- ordinated by Jan Romberg.

>the studio

This year we will come back to the studio from 2014. We have the honor that the “Moving Poets” invite us to their Novilla in Berlin Schöneweide. The villa right at the river side has a big and bright studio and nice garden for relaxationa and outerspace training!

>final performance

It is not only a good tradition but also necessary and mostly the wish of the students to present themselfs a public and local audience. The teachers present their art and the students what solo and group performances they developed. This makes all the rehearsals and sessions more real and therefore, raises the motivation. An intesive theater workshop without final presentation would be incomplete.
